Another day, another social event, another dose of anxiety to be dealt with. Today's is Anthony's birthday and he had organised a three hour boat tour on Amsterdam's canals in the afternoon. In the morning, after my usual breakfast in Coffee Company, I had gone out to Bijenkorf and bought a shirt I could still wear because even though it's close to summer, it doesn't look or feel like summer at all. As we gathered for the boat ride, with people all having brought drinks and foods, it was actually quite chilly. The boat ride itself was great, despite the fact that we mostly avoided the city centre canals and despite the fact that we had to take shelter underneath a bridge in Zuid when it started raining, because I saw a lot of people that I hadn't seen for quite a while. It was great to catch up.

Daniel also had a good time, despite his usual anticipation, and actually was thrilled to find another photographer, Mélanie, who wanted to take tons of pictures of him. On the boat, as we left the boat to walk to café Prik, and of course at the bar as well. Many more pictures for Daniel to add to his already impressive collection. The picture shows Anthony, the birthday boy, on the boat when the weather actually was friendly for a while. Before the umbrellas came out!
